Encouraging spirituality: The caravan of fraternity will reach the educational world

Within the framework of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress (IEC 2024) and under the theme “Fraternity to heal the world”, the “Caravan of Fraternity” is being planned, which will tour various Catholic schools as well as private education institutions that receive government aid in several provinces of Ecuador .This initiative’s main objective is to enliven Eucharistic spirituality in children and young people.
To prepare the roadmap, meetings were held between the Secretary General of the IEC 2024, Fr. Juan Carlos Garzón; the President of the IEC 2024 Communication Commission, P. Livingston Olivares; the Coordinator of the Commission, Marcelo Mejía, and other representatives of the same; as well as the President of the Ecuadorian Confederation of Catholic Education Establishments (Confedec), Rómulo López. During these meetings, a route was agreed that will begin in the Sierra region and then extend to the East and the Coast.
During the caravan, training will be provided to those responsible for the pastoral area of the educational institutions, which includes rectors, religion teachers, nuns, and representatives of the Student Counseling Department.Topics will be addressed such as: “Eucharist: Source of fraternity in the school world”, “My personal encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist” and “Why did Pope Francis choose Quito as the venue for the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress?” so that they can transmit the message in their respective educational institutions. In addition, young people will be encouraged to actively participate in the celebration of the Eucharist.
The educational caravan will begin at the end of May and will continue throughout the month of June this year.During this event, the progress of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress, which will be held from September 8 to 15, 2024, will also be reported.
