International Eucharistic Congress 2024 receives registrations
With less than 150 days remaining until the start of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress, several delegations from various countries around the world made official their participation in the IEC 2024. The great ecclesial meeting, which will take place from September 8 to 15, in the city of Quito, has as its theme “Fraternity to heal the world”, illuminated with the biblical text “You are all brothers” (Mt 23,8).

Until June, discounted registrations
The organization of the International Eucharistic Congress determined a significant discount on the registration cost for those who confirm their registration until June 30. Thus, those who are interested in participating in the Congress, and who register before July 1st, would benefit from a significant discount of more than 12% of the total registration value.
Apostolic Nuncio in Ecuador has already registered for the IEC 2024
Within the framework of the recent Plenary Assembly of the Ecuadorian episcopate, the Apostolic Nuncio in Ecuador, Monsignor Andrés Carrascosa Coso, made official his registration to participate in the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress, which will be held in Quito, from September 8 to 15, 2024.
Likewise, all the bishops who participated in the Plenary Assembly of the Ecuadorian episcopate, which took place from April 8 to 12, officially registered to be part of the Congress, which has as its theme “Fraternity to heal the world.” “You are all brothers” (Mt 23,8)
Bishops of Ecuador call to heal wounds
In the final message of the Episcopate Assembly, the Catholic pastors echoed the theme of the International Eucharistic Congress, “Fraternity to heal the world,” and considered that in “today’s Ecuador, as children of one Father we are called to heal a family and social context wounded by the indifference of the “good”, by the cruelty of the violent, by the poverty of the majority, by the corruption present at all levels of our society and by the contamination and destruction of our House Common”.
“The wounds of this world will only be healed with concrete actions: flourishing where God has placed us, announcing the Gospel of forgiveness and peace, sharing bread, investing in quality education for all, practicing justice, creating sources of work, ensuring comprehensive health while taking care of the environment,” says another part of the final message.
Likewise, they add that actions to heal the world require “urgent and profound changes in political, economic and legal structures.”
Ecuador, headquarters of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress
Pope Francis chose Ecuador as the venue for the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress, on the occasion of the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Consecration of Ecuador to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.This historic event for the universal Church, as well as the community of faith that pilgrims in Ecuador, took place in the city of Quito, on March 25, 1874. Thus, Ecuador became the first country in the world to consecrate itself to the Most Sacred Heart. of Jesus.
Likewise, Ecuador was the first country in the world to hold a National Eucharistic Congress, an ecclesial celebration that took place in Quito, in June 1886, when Monsignor José Ignacio Ordoñes (1829-1893) was Archbishop of Quito.
Now, with the holding of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress, Quito will once again become a Eucharistic city, where thousands of faithful, from various countries around the world, will reflect and live the greatest experience of faith around the Eucharistic Mystery.
