Delegates from IEC 2024 and the Metropolitan District of Quito coordinated logistical and security aspects for the upcoming Theological Symposium and the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress.
In the context of presenting the program for the Theological Symposium, scheduled from September 4 to 7, and the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress (IEC 2024), set to take place from September 8 to 15, a working meeting was held between the IEC 2024 organizing team and the Metropolitan District of Quito team. The meeting focused on coordinating the logistical and security details for the ecclesial events.
The IEC 2024 organizing team delegates, Pamela García, Cristina Santillán, and Marcelo Mejía, along with Rosa Alarcón and Dayanará Benalcazar from Coordinamos, presented the specific needs for the International Eucharistic Congress to each of the Metropolitan District of Quito’s departments.
Representatives from municipal departments, including the Secretary of Mobility, Tourist Destination Management, Secretary of Territorial Coordination, Secretary of Culture, and the Fire Department, among others, emphasized the importance of coordination to ensure a safe and well-organized Congress.
During the meeting, key organizational aspects were discussed, including access to various locations for the mass events and the IEC 2024. The logistics for ensuring safe access for people, based on the approved capacity, and for vehicles to ensure smooth and secure mobility were also addressed.
Security was a major focus, highlighting the collaboration between various state entities and the Congress. Finally, specific meetings were scheduled to strengthen coordination processes between the Municipality of Quito and IEC 2024, recognizing the need for a tailored approach due to the unique characteristics of both events.
