IEC 2024 delegation visited the National Assembly to coordinate efforts

A delegation from the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress (IEC 2024) visited the office of the assemblywoman for Pichincha, Marcela Holguín, this Thursday, May 9, with the purpose of coordinating efforts for their joint development.
During the meeting, the members of the delegation, made up of Monsignor Maximiliano Ordoñez, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Quito; P. Gilber Jiménez, private secretary of Monsignor Alfredo Espinoza, SDB.; P. Livingston Olivares, President of the Communication Commission of IEC 2024 and Cristina Santillan, Bursar of IEC 2024, presented detailed information about the Congress.
The scheduled activities were highlighted, such as the Theological Symposium that will take place from September 4 to 7, 2024 at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador. This meeting will feature the participation of theologians, religious and lay people from around the world, focusing on the theme chosen by Pope Francis: “Fraternity to heal the world.”
In addition, information was provided on the development of IEC 2024 at the Quito Metropolitan Convention Center, from September 8 to 15, 2024, with an expected attendance of about 5 thousand people. During the inaugural mass on the first day, boys and girls will receive their First Communion, marking a special moment in the celebration.
The delegation also shared details about a Eucharistic procession that will take place in the streets of the historic center of Quito, starting from the Basilica of the National Vow and culminating in the Plaza de San Francisco, as part of the activities scheduled for the Congress.
Legislator Marcela Holguín expressed her support and willingness to collaborate in holding this Congress, highlighting the importance of promoting fraternity and unity in today’s world.
