Forming hearts of brotherhood in the educational world

In a joint effort to promote the importance of fraternity and the Eucharist, rectors, religion teachers, nuns and representatives of the Student Counseling Department of the Catholic and fiscomisional educational units of the provinces of Azuay and Cañar met at the Fiscomisional Educational Unit Sister Teresa Valsé, from the city of Cuenca.
This event promoted by the IEC 2024 Caravan of Fraternity is an opportunity to strengthen ties in the educational world to replicate the message in children and young people.
Patricia Cedillo, rector of the San José de la Salle Educational Unit in Cuenca, shared her vision on the impact of fraternity in education: “One of the fundamental values is service and dedication to the students and our community, and to the environment that surrounds us.
Cristian Calle Sarmiento, teacher at the “La Asunción de Cuenca” Private Educational Unit, maintained that in current times, pastoral agents must respond to a divided society, disintegrated families and weakened community spaces. He indicated that as a pastoral and teaching person, he has the opportunity to serve. «The great challenge is how to generate communities of life. Bring fraternity through actions and make our spaces communities of life between students, teachers and families. That is, a comprehensive educational formation being a community of life.
During the day, the members of the Caravan, made up of Rómulo López, president of the Confedec; P. Livingston Olivares, president of the IEC 2024 Communication Commission; and his communication team made up of María José Casco, Adriana Naranjo and Paúl Lamiña, socialized the message of fraternity and Eucharist. In addition, to report on the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress that will take place from September 8 to 15, 2024.
