In the final stretch towards the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress to be held in Quito, Ecuador, from September 8 to 15, 2024, the Press Office of the Holy See hosted the presentation of the final preparations. Under the motto “Fraternity to heal the world” they expect the participation of more than 5 thousand people.
2,500 children will receive First Communion at the opening mass of the 53rd International Eucharistic Congress, which will take place from September 8 to 15, 2024 in Quito, Ecuador, announced Monsignor Alfredo José Espinoza Mateus, metropolitan archbishop of Quito, in dialogue with the Vatican News. After the presentation of this great event in the Press Office of the Holy See on Monday, May 20, the prelate recalls that it will be preceded by a symposium from September 4 to 7.
It is a challenge that they have taken on with true passion, with a large team. “We are finalizing the last points,” reveals Espinoza, who says that a delegation from the IEC 2024 is visiting Rome, holding working meetings with various organizations of the Holy See. The mayor, Pabel Muñoz, and the president of Quito Tourism are also there, because they want to spread the beauty of their country and its capital. “We are waiting for you all, we already have 35 countries registered,” he says.
