Before assuming this position, he was Coadjutor Bishop of the Archdiocese of Brazzaville in 2020 and Bishop of the Diocese of Dolisie from 2013 to 2020. Gregorio Rosa Chávez, the first cardinal of El Salvador. He was born in September 1942 in Sociedad, department of Morazán. He held the position of auxiliary bishop of San Salvador. He collaborated closely with the martyred archbishop San Óscar Arnulfo Romero who played a crucial role in defending human rights in his country during a time of military dictatorship (1931-1979). Despite the threats and violence, he did not hesitate to raise his voice against the human rights violations perpetrated by the government and the military. Cardinal Gregorio Rosa is one of the main promoters of the cause of canonization of Saint Óscar Arnulfo Romero and a close friend of the same and will provide in his testimony a moving account of an example of holiness.
